Director, Platform Engineering
Slalom_Cloud is looking for a Director to join our team in the Platform Engineering (PE) capability. Our PE engineers build secure automation environments that enable our application and data engineers to unveil their products to the world. Our goal is to create a platform to make a product smart, secure, and fast, while minimizing toil.

You will be leading all aspects of a PE team located in Auckland, New Zealand. Success in this role requires a variety of skills such as: building and leading teams in your location, establishing relationships within Slalom and client leaders, deep expertise, passion, and curiosity across Clouds, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security trends and technologies and being a key team member in initiatives.

What will you do?
As a Director in Platform Engineering, you will be a steward of the capability and be responsible for development of services and capacity to deliver. You will develop strong relationships within local markets to drive capability-specific opportunities and manage teams to ensure quality outcomes. You will be an expert at delivery and fill roles ranging from dedicated Senior architect to SME roles to engagement leadership and delivery excellence.

Specifically, You Will

• Act as a senior delivery lead for large scale, multi-functional product teams creating purpose-built software products for our clients.
• Play an engagement management role for projects and manage team performance, budgeting, and client satisfaction.
• Support, mentor, and coach as People Manager leader of individual contributor engineers.
• Be a mentor and are comfortable providing coaching and people leadership to individual contributors and leaders alike. Not just source talent but grow it within the capability.
• Lead and drive sales pursuits for modern engineering projects.
• Be the direct line of contact for Platform Engineering for other Slalom capabilities and markets.
• Conduct technical for PE candidates, and behavioural interviews for our other capabilities.
• Be a capability leader, comfortable running events and initiatives within Slalom, and in our go-to-market strategies.
• Help grow our culture of learning by taking part in and coordinating opportunities such as presenting at technical conferences, community groups, writing blog articles, and contributing to partner-coordinated workshops.

What will you bring?

• You will bring a proven track record in building and deploying highly scalable public cloud-based solutions using modern DevOps techniques.
• You will also showcase your experience in all phases of product development, software development and testing lifecycles regardless of cloud platform (predominantly AWS and Azure in New Zealand).
• You will leverage experience in established technology and product departments with mature program management processes and standards for both Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP, and Lean) and waterfall project methodologies.
• You will lead sales pursuits and drive business operations.
• Your experience in people management will enable you to successfully lead a large team, recruit and retain top talent, and foster a culture of inclusiveness. Stitching together your leadership capabilities, your client presence, and business insight will ensure your success in managing large projects and programs.

Note: this role requires to be based in Auckland, New Zealand.
