Job description:

ACG Sunderland is an independent, coeducational school (Y0-Y13) in purpose built state of the art school facilities located in Henderson, West Auckland. We prepare our students for a lifetime of learning, equipping them with the academic, sporting, and cultural skills they need to become balanced and independent global citizens.

We are seeking a capable Accounts Officer to join our support staff team for a full-time, permanent position from December 2025. Reporting to the Principal, you will be responsible for the accounts payable and receivable functions, bank reconciliations and other general ledger reconciliations to trial balance. You will also be responsible for updating and maintaining the school's fixed asset register along with other ad hoc accounting duties. Previous cash handling experience would be an an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Most of the standard business accounting functions with specific areas of focus around daily accounts processing and debtor management
  • Undertaking a range of different tasks to respond to the needs of the business and customer focus must be maintained at the highest level
  • Providing general finance support services to the wider busines
  • Process all student billing
  • Recording student payments
  • Issuing receipts, as required
  • Processing student refunds
  • Credit control and monthly reporting

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Experience working in an accounting or finance role - at least 2 years
  • Proven experience in administration and customer services
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and oral communication - ability to communicate with a diverse range of financial and non-financial stakeholders
