EOTC Coordinator and Outdoor Education Instructor

Nayland College offers a wide range of Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) experiences across all subjects. As these opportunities grow, so does the need for robust risk management and system improvement to meet current best practice and Worksafe requirements.
We're seeking a passionate and skilled professional to join our team in a dual role: EOTC Coordinator and Outdoor Education Instructor.
This is a fixed term position for the 2026 academic year, 34 hours per week (term time only).
EOTC Coordinator – 20 hours/week
Support the Deputy Principal in charge of EOTC with:
- Staff induction for planning EOTC trips
- Admin support for trip submissions
- Policy compliance and feedback on trip planning
- Staff support and trip reviews
- Organising PD sessions on EOTC best practice
- Staff competency and First Aid currency checks
- EOTC systems review
Outdoor Education Instructor – 14 hours/week
Nayland College runs an extensive Outdoor Education program from Year 9 to Year 13. We're looking for someone enthusiastic and experienced to support this program through:
- Leading afternoon practical sessions and classroom sessions
- Instructing outdoor skills e.g: bush skills, whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, caving, and alpine activities
- Instructing classes when staff are on trips
- Reflecting and improving instructional strategies
- Gear technician duties: repairs, orders, safety checks
- Inventory management
- Instructor on overnight trips
- Experience in outdoor education and trip coordination
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and Worksafe requirements
- Excellent communication, organisational and administration skills
- Commitment to student wellbeing and experiential learning
- Flexibility to adapt to seasonal demands
- NZOIA certification or equivalent outdoor instruction credentials
