About the Role...
We're on the lookout for a strategic and passionate Senior Product Manager – Equipment to join our Product team, based at the NZ Support Office. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the vision and strategy of Kathmandu's hardgoods range—driving innovation, consumer connection, and commercial success across New Zealand and Australia.
You'll lead cross-functional teams to bring products from concept to shelf, manage the full lifecycle, and mentor junior product managers—all while keeping the customer at the heart of every decision.
What You'll Be Doing …
Product Strategy & Execution
- Define and deliver long-term product strategies and seasonal line plans for hardgoods.
- Align product roadmaps with brand goals, market trends, and consumer insights.
- Identify growth opportunities through competitive analysis and user feedback.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead collaboration across Design, Development, Sourcing, and Marketing teams.
- Partner with Merchandising and Commercial teams to ensure global alignment.
Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the full product lifecycle—from concept to retirement.
- Optimise SKU productivity, pricing strategies, and margins.
Consumer & Market Insights
- Conduct market research to inform product decisions.
- Stay ahead of outdoor industry trends, technologies, and consumer behaviours.
Team Development
- Mentor junior product managers and associate PLMs.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team culture.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years' experience in Product Management, Merchandising, or a related field—ideally in outdoor or sporting goods.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PLM systems.
- A passion for innovation, sustainability, and the outdoor lifestyle.
- Availability to travel internationally as required.
