About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and capable Project Manager / Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of structural steel projects — from planning through to installation and completion in Christchurch and Southern Lakes Region.

You will be responsible for managing project timelines, site operations, subcontractors, health & safety, and ensuring quality outcomes that meet VIP Steel's high standards.

This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of structural steel construction, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the direction, schedule, and progress of commercial and residential structural steel projects.
  • Oversee all site operations, including supervision of staff, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards and company policies are implemented and upheld at all times.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management and Construction teams to maintain workflow and project alignment.
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance, documentation, and site reporting requirements.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop site teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships and resolve any issues promptly.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in structural steel project or site management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural steel installation and construction processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and foster collaboration.
  • A solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to plan ahead, prioritise, and deliver results under pressure.
  • A full NZ driver's licence and current right to work in New Zealand.
