Our Palmerston North laboratory is seeking a motivated Veterinary Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team in a full-time role.

As part of our Reference Laboratories, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality, accurate, and timely diagnostic services that support veterinarians and animal care professionals across the region. Your expertise in biochemistry and haematology will help ensure every result meets the highest standards of precision and reliability.

What You"ll Do
  • Perform and interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests, applying professional judgment in analysis and validation.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results in line with quality standards

  • Contribute to workflow organisation and help prioritise tasks to meet service requirements.

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to maintain peak performance.

  • Uphold rigorous quality control procedures and compliance with IANZ certification and ISO 17025 standards.

  • Collaborate with a skilled team to meet tight turnaround times and deliver exceptional service.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Keep up to date with developments in haematology and maintain professional standards.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor of Medical Science or equivalent qualification.

  • Hands-on experience in a diagnostic laboratory, ideally in biochemistry and haematology.

  • Familiarity with IANZ and ISO 17025 standards.

  • Flexibility to work full-time hours Monday–Saturday on rotating day shifts.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercial lab environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for customer service.
