Queenstown, New Zealand Queenstown Resort College Full time NZ$45,000 - NZ$65,000 per year

Hospitality Internship Manager

Queenstown Resort College (QRC) is New Zealand's leading tourism and hospitality education provider, delivering diplomas in Hospitality Management and Adventure Tourism Management.

We are looking for an Internship Manager to grow our first-year students into confident young professionals and place them into 9-month internships here in Queenstown, wider New Zealand and beyond.

About the role

You will guide students through their full internship journey – from encouraging personal growth and development, communication and application skills, to in-placement support and post-internship debriefs. A critical part of the role is building strong relationships with both students and industry partners and matching each student to the right role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering lessons focusing on interview skills, workplace expectations and professional behaviour.
  • Working closely with hospitality partners to secure a continuing range of internship roles across a variety of operators.
  • Managing the full internship cycle: applications, interviews, placement, ongoing check-ins, and post-placement review.
  • Building and maintaining strong networks in Queenstown, across NZ and on the east coast of Australia.
  • Monitoring student progress and managing issues calmly and professionally when they arise.
The successful candidate

Will be personable, organised and comfortable working under pressure during busy intake and placement periods.

We are looking for:

  • Strong relationship-building skills and a confident, open communication style.
  • Experience in the hospitality or tourism sector and/or HR, recruitment or training.
  • Impactful classroom / group facilitation capability and sound computer skills.
  • Great attention to detail, time management and the ability to juggle multiple stakeholders. Effective reporting and administration are central to the role.
  • A genuine interest in developing young people and coaching them towards their goals.
  • A relevant degree (e.g. hospitality, tourism, business, HR) is preferred.
  • Existing industry networks in Queenstown, and the ability to grow relationships across NZ and beyond.

Experience working with tertiary students or young people is highly desirable.

All applicants must have full work rights in New Zealand.

Please submit your application via SEEK, including a CV and cover letter.
