Te Haeata/The Opportunity

Join our passionate team dedicated to supporting the Tenancy Tribunal and making a real difference for communities across New Zealand. We're looking for an enthusiastic, talented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys meaningful work. This is a permanent, Wellington-based position offering the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact service.

In this role you are key to ensuring the successful operation of our Courts and Tribunals. By liaising with multiple stakeholders and parties, you work with your team to provide information and facilitate the progressing of matters for those who are interacting with the Justice system. This includes being able to communicate confidently with judicial officers, members of the public and your wider Justice colleagues.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the judicial officers and case parties have all the information they need, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Interacting with participants on any case related matter. Customer queries can come in via phone, or electronically – so you will need to be confident communicator, and comfortable with electronic systems.
  • Planning and scheduling of case events, including putting logistics in place to ensure cases are heard without delay.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we have outlined and believe you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you

Our participants and users of the system are diverse, and our workforce reflects this. This role is no different and would suit people from a variety of backgrounds.

Whether you have an interest in the Justice system or have a passion for working with customers, this is your chance to join us on our journey to deliver people centred justice services for all.

To be successful in the role you will need to be:

  • Detail orientated and observant – we have many different processes and case information needs to be accurate.
  • Organised – hearings and events have set dates and times, so you will need to be comfortable working within time constraints.
  • Self-aware – our participants are unique so you will be confident working both individually and as a team, across a range of situations.
  • Able to prioritise –some of our processes are repetitive, but you'll be able to manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another quickly
  • Willing to learn – legislation and processes are always changing so you will be able to adapt and maintain knowledge capital.
  • Resilient– there are times you will be working on sensitive cases and sometimes at high volume.
  • Be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi and understand these in a Ministry context.
