The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and well-connected Executive Director to provide secretariat and executive leadership services to the SIA on a part-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of New Zealand's capital markets and financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the SIA on government relations strategy and maintain relationships with key politicians, officials, and regulators (e.g., MBIE, MoJ, IRD, DIA, FMA, NZX).
  • Act as the primary liaison with stakeholders and participate in government working groups.
  • Keep members informed of legislative, regulatory, and operational developments through regular reports and communications.
  • Prepare media releases and provide commentary as required.
  • Coordinate and draft submissions on government and regulatory consultations.
  • Arrange and attend regular meetings of member firm representatives, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
  • Facilitate roundtable meetings with Ministers, regulators, and other stakeholders.

About You

  • Proven experience in government relations, advocacy, or industry leadership within financial services or a related sector.
  • Strong network of contacts across government, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a part-time capacity.
  • Experience in preparing submissions, reports, and media communications is highly desirable.

Appointment & Remuneration

Initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension. Remote Part-time role: 16-20 hours per week, with flexibility around days and times. Remuneration: $125,000 + GST per annum.
