Who is BioOra?
BioOra is the first approved Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell commercial manufacturing company in New Zealand. Our goal is to revolutionise cancer immunotherapy by automating and scaling the production of CAR T-cells, to deliver this life-saving technology at a fraction of standard costs and time. Why is the role available?
We're getting bigger fast and need a single touchpoint for all things finance. Our CEO needs a Chartered Accountant on the ground that he can trust to pick up the financial nuts & bolts so he can focus on our growth.
What will you do?
Working closely with our outsourced Finance company (Oxygen), you'll make sure our suppliers are paid on time, settle billing issues, and develop finance systems and reporting that boost business efficiencies. Utilising various tools, you'll pull together dashboards and reporting whilst having a good handle on our tax requirements. At a high level the role includes:
- Budgeting
- Accounts payable & receivable
- Payroll oversight in conjunction with our Head of People & Culture
- General bookkeeping
- Reporting & budget visibility
- Oversight of finance systems
- Supporting the Senior Leadership Team in all areas of finance
- Relationship management.
What do you bring to the role?
As a qualified NZ Chartered Accountant, you will have had a few years in business already. Having mastered accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting and modelling you will have a practical understanding of NZ financial regulations and tax laws. We don't have the bandwidth to train anyone in these areas, so these are non-negotiables. We want someone to grow with us, so you'll be chomping at the bit to prove yourself in a start-up environment. That's what we need to see on paper. In person we need to see someone with:
- Strategic planning and business insight
- Leadership and pragmatism
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Technical prowess with financial systems including ERP platforms, Excel, Xero, or MYOB
- Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset
- The ability to balance work and having fun
- Proactive at staying on top of industry trends.
Why join us?
We are a values-based organisation, because we're creating something EPIC Here's how...
- Excellence - We strive for the highest standards in everything we do
- Passion - We bring enthusiasm and dedication to our work
- Innovation - We embrace creativity and push boundaries
- Collaboration - We thrive together valuing every voice
- - We go the extra mile to make a difference
So, if your purpose lies in making a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer, tell us why with an up-to-date CV and short introduction letter.
When you apply
As much as we love AI, we do not want to hear why AI says we should hire you, we want to hear what the human we're hiring has to say about the human we're hiring
Strictly, no AI cover letters please. We will be checking as we need you to live up to your application and be EPIC
If your CV isn't presented with the care we need in this role, and if you've not answered the following question in your cover letter, we will not progress your application.
The question is: In the video on our website that explores our facilities, what colour masks are our team wearing?
*Please note, to be considered for this role you MUST already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
