The Opportunity
This is a stand-out opportunity for an experienced accounting professional ready to take the next step in their career.
As an Intermediate Accountant with Talley's, you'll play a key role in financial operations — supporting management accounting, month-end processes, and project work. You'll have the scope to take ownership of key tasks, contribute to process improvements, and continue developing your technical and analytical skills within a supportive, high-performing team.
You'll be based in either Nelson or Motueka, surrounded by a collaborative finance team and leaders who value initiative, development, and improvement.
The Company
Proudly New Zealand-owned and operated, Talley's is a long-established and highly successful business with operations across seafood, dairy, meat, and vegetables.
With a reputation for quality, innovation, and care for its people, Talley's offers a professional environment where you can grow and contribute to the continued success of one of New Zealand's iconic food producers.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Reporting and Analytics Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Preparing and reviewing month-end and year-end journals and reconciliations
- Managing and improving accounting processes across key ledgers
- Supporting project accounting and investigating discrepancies
- Developing proficiency in Talley's systems
- Managing bank and clearing account reconciliations, fixed asset processes, and financial reporting tasks
- Assisting with audit and compliance requirements
- Contributing to ongoing process improvement and system development
This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and the chance to make a visible impact across the business.
Your Profile
You'll bring a solid grounding in accounting principles and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Specifically, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Around 3+ years' experience in accounting or finance
- Progress toward a CA or CPA qualification (advantageous)
- ERP exposure, ideally Microsoft D365 and/or Xero
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- High attention to detail, excellent organisation, and a desire to continuously improve
- Full eligibility to work in NZ
You'll be self-motivated, pragmatic, and collaborative — someone who enjoys taking ownership and seeing the results of their work.
Please note – Applications for this role will be reviewed as and when they are received, so don't hesitate to register your interest.
