Are you passionate about authentic Indian cooking? We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Indian Cook - Tandoor & Curry to join our team and help deliver high-quality North Indian and Punjabi cuisine to our valued customers. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in traditional food preparation, can handle pressure in a busy kitchen, and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, sizzlers, tandoori items, sweets, and snacks.
  • Operate the traditional Tandoor oven safely and confidently.
  • Assist in menu planning and review when required.
  • Prepare meals that cater to special dietary requirements as specified in the menu.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared using traditional Punjabi and North Indian cooking methods.
  • Prepare ingredients and cook menu items to order.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality, taste, and presentation of all dishes.
  • Determine appropriate portion sizes and pricing, as directed by the business owner.
  • Ensure all food hygiene and safety standards are met in line with New Zealand regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience is required
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Punjabi cuisine, especially: Amritsari Naan, Chole Bhature, Samosa, Jalebi, Rasgulla, Gulab Jamun, Barfi, Laddo, and other traditional Indian snacks.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure without losing confidence.
  • Strong teamwork and a positive attitude.
  • Good communication and professionalism; English fluency not required, but must understand and speak basic English.
  • Reliable, presentable, and committed to delivering consistent quality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
