Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As Senior IT Change and Release Specialist, you will act as the operational lead and deputy to the Manager – IT Service Assurance, coordinating day-to-day operations for Change and Release. You will ensure both practices operate as a cohesive unit, champion process improvements and foster collaboration across teams.
Ko tō mahi | What you'll do
Drive internal alignment and delivery focus for Change and Release, ensuring shared clarity on priorities, timelines and expectations
Act as operational lead and second in charge to the Manager, coordinating and managing day to day operations
Provide hands on support in both Change and Release functions, including direct involvement in operational tasks
Mentor and support team members, facilitating knowledge sharing, coaching and capability uplift
Chair Change Advisory Board meetings and associated forums
Provide backfill support for IT Change Specialists and IT Release Specialists during absences
Champion process improvements, embedding simplification, AI and other enhancements to uplift maturity and reduce operational friction
Foster closer collaboration between Change and Release teams, identifying opportunities for integration
Support the Manager by handling operational coordination
Maintain strong working relationships with the IT Service Resilience Specialist and Analyst
Contribute to cultural evolution, advocating for proactive, collaborative and accountable approaches
Engage with Service Owners, Product Owners and Engineering leads to promote disciplined change and release practices
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring
Bachelor's in IT, ITIL 4 certification and experience with Agile or DevOps environments
Eight plus years in operational roles, including four plus in senior or lead positions, and experience as both a Change Manager and Release Manager
Strong mentoring and facilitation skills, with empathy and adaptability to support team members through change
Versatile in tools, adaptable generalist mindset, with strong expertise in ITSM tools (such as ServiceNow), Excel and data analytics
Flexibility to handle dual functions and backfill seamlessly
Analytical versatility for cross practice reporting
Continuity focus to maintain coverage during key business periods
Collaborative bridging to unify team efforts
AI utilisation for enhanced trend identification
Delivery level influence and alignment
