About the role:
The Vineyard Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and support of the day-to-day vineyard activities of the team including:
- Canopy Management, Planting, Cultivation / Weeding, Pruning, Bud rubbing, Shoot thinning, Wire lifting, Bunch thinning and Harvesting grapes and ensuring the selection of relevant grapes
- This role includes directly supervising employees and contract labour and ensuring all employees and contractors are meeting quality parameters with the help of vineyard management.
- Pruning/ vine training with the team. Pruning technique is very important as this affects the overall crop of grapes.
About you:
We are looking for a vineyard allrounder that is a hand-on team player, ensuring that personal, business and team needs are addressed.
- Excellent communication skills
- Motivating the team and adhering to good time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Respectful of our environment, keeping environmental consciousness at the fore front of processes
- Previous experience operating machinery (tractors etc) is desirable
This position requires flexibility in working hours, as during the harvest season you may be required to work longer hours and extra days. This role will be expected to work outdoors in various weather conditions and will be required to perform physical tasks such as walking up and downhill on steep and uneven terrain, pruning, picking grapes and putting out and retrieving nets.
