About the
role
As our new Civil Project Engineer, you'll play a key part in
managing capital and non-routine maintenance projects that drive reliability,
safety, and performance across the mill. You'll work closely with our Civil
Engineering Team Leader and existing Civil Engineer, collaborating with
operations, maintenance, and external partners to deliver high-value outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope, cost, and execute brownfield projects using a rigorous
Front-End Loading (stage-gate) process. - Lead risk management, commissioning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide technical support for plant breakdowns and process
improvements. - Manage vendors and consultants, ensuring compliance with OjiFS and
statutory standards. - Contribute to long-term capital and maintenance planning aligned
with the mill's business strategy. - Champion safety and risk management in a major hazard facility
environment.
About You
You will hold
a BE or NZCE qualification (or equivalent experience) with over five years in
engineering across major process industries such as pulp & paper,
petrochemical, mining, and metals. With proven expertise in brownfield project
delivery, maintenance environments, and a strong grasp of engineering codes,
regulations, contract administration, and budgeting, you bring both technical
depth and regulatory awareness. You will be customer-focused and
results-driven, with clear communication skills and a strong commitment to
integrity. While familiarity with Major Hazard Facility legislation and the
Resource Management Act would be advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
