Are you passionate about ensuring the reliability, performance, and innovation of enterprise platforms? Do you enjoy solving complex problems and working across data, applications, and infrastructure? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Mercury as a Platform Specialist within our Generation delivery team.

In this hands-on role, you'll provide technical expertise, configuration, and operational support for Mercury's Generation platforms. You'll play a key role in maintaining the stability and security of critical systems, while also helping to design and implement improvements that drive efficiency, automation, and innovation.

This role offers the best of both worlds, combining engineering, data, and technology, where you'll be exposed to a wide range of applications, integrations, and cloud technologies. We're looking for someone who's curious, analytical, and proactive, with a can-do attitude and a continuous improvement mindset. We'll invest in your growth and development, giving you opportunities to deepen your technical skills and broaden your platform experience.

There is flexibility for this role to be based in Rotorua or Hamilton.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain technology platforms that underpin electricity generation and wholesale operations.
• Deliver solutions, configurations, and platform improvements as part of an agile delivery team.
• Manage and maintain the operational health, stability, and security of assigned platforms.
• Analyse and troubleshoot performance, latency, and routing issues across applications and networks.
• Work with stakeholders to grow platform capabilities, resolve issues quickly, and ensure systems meet business needs.
• Drive improvements through data insights, automation, and innovative use of AI and modern cloud practices.
• Collaborate with vendors, business users, and technical teams to ensure smooth platform operations.
• Travel to Mercury Generation sites as required to expand platform capabilities and build strong stakeholder relationships.

Additional Skills And Experience We Value
We're especially interested in candidates who bring experience or curiosity in any one (or more) of the following:

• Data analysis and engineering – familiarity with Cloud Data Platforms, Data Engineering, and/or Data Integration patterns.
• API-based integrations – designing, managing, or troubleshooting API connections between platforms.
• Cloud technologies – particularly AWS components such as S3 buckets and related services.
• SQL – writing and optimising queries and stored procedures.
• Excel – leveraging advanced functions and formulas for analysis and reporting.
• Application performance and network analysis – identifying and resolving latency or routing issues, including PowerShell-based diagnostics.
