About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at Ilex Café & Events. This role requires a culinary professional with a strong operational background, creative flair, and the ability to deliver exceptional quality across both café and event service.
The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen management, including menu design, staff leadership, cost control, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team to achieve excellence in all areas of food production.
- Develop and implement seasonal menus for café and event service.
- Ensure all dishes meet established standards for quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Oversee stock control, supplier management, and costings to achieve budget targets.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the management and events teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef position.
- Proven experience in managing high-volume service and event catering.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and culture.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and financial acumen.
- A passion for fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.
- Flexibility to work across varied hours including weekends and event schedules.
