Technical Business Analyst – Data & Digital

Contract opportunity | Wellington based (hybrid working options)

We are seeking a skilled Technical Business Analyst with strong Data and Digital expertise to support the design and delivery of high-value solutions. You will play a critical role in bridging business needs and technical outcomes, working with stakeholders in the early design phase through to delivery. This role offers the opportunity to influence solution architecture, data flows, and integration points while ensuring robust documentation and alignment with project goals.

Key Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring a blend of business analysis and technical capability, ideally including:

  • Expertise in eliciting, documenting, and validating business and technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, data flows, and integration points.
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders, manage expectations, and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Competency in querying databases, interpreting data, and supporting data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with APIs (REST/SOAP), data exchange formats (JSON, XML), and ideally Azure API development.
  • Exposure to developing rules and conditions for a rules engine.
  • Proficiency with analysis and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Power BI, or Qlik.
  • Skilled in presenting complex information in clear, visual formats such as infographics.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and dynamic delivery environments.

Expected Deliverables

In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of project outputs, including:

  • Business and technical requirements documentation.
  • Non-Functional Requirements (performance, security, scalability, usability).
  • As-Is and To-Be process maps and data flow diagrams.
  • Data mapping documents to define system-to-system integration.
  • API requirements and specifications.
  • System configuration specifications for contract management and rules engines.
  • Defect/issue tracking and impact assessments in collaboration with test teams.
  • Progress dashboards, governance reports, and assurance documentation.
  • Handover documentation to BAU and process teams.

Duration: 6 Months (contract)

Location: Wellington (flexible hybrid)

Rate: Competitive hourly rate
