About the role:

This is an opportunity to teach on the popular Barbering programme at WITT, which involves:

  • The NZ Certificate in Commercial Barbering (Level 4), including theory, professional practice, client communication and health & safety.
  • The Taranaki Trades Academy Barbering course, which provides senior secondary school students the opportunity to sample industry training one day per week alongside school.

Key responsibilities include lesson planning, course delivery, assessment marking and moderation, as well as working as a crucial member of a wider academic team.

About you:

You will

  • Have at least 5 years' experience in Barbering/Hairdressing.
  • Have obtained a NZ Certificate in Barbering, Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to relate well to youth.
  • Digital literacy and effective organisational skills.
  • Have established contacts within the profession.

Experience in tertiary teaching is highly regarded, however not essential.
