We're seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Foreman – Auto Electrical & Mechanical to join our team at our Auckland depot.
This is a key leadership position where you'll supervise workshop operations, mentor a team, and apply your technical expertise across Cranes, heavy vehicles, and truck-mounted cranes. Ideal candidates will bring strong experience in auto electrical, diesel mechanics, and preferably the crane or transport industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily workshop operations, including task scheduling and resource planning.
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on crane , heavy vehicles and truck-mounted cranes.
- Lead, support, and mentor technicians, apprentices, and support staff.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of both planned maintenance and emergency breakdown response.
- Communicate effectively with operations, logistics, and management teams.
- Maintain workshop standards in line with health & safety and compliance regulations.
- Be available for flexible work hours, occasional weekend work, or travel as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced Trade Certificate (or equivalent) in Auto Electrical or Diesel Mechanics.
- Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and electrical/hydraulic diagnostics.
- Hands-on leadership experience in a workshop or service environment.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay organised, focused, and calm under pressure.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in the crane industry, Hiab's, or rigging operations.
- Exposure to equipment hire, transport logistics, or related fields.

We are looking for someone with a proven record in automotive servicing and repair, preferably with experience in the construction, crane or transport industries. This is an autonomous role and we will be relying solely on you for all vehicle maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring our obligations as a vehicle maintainer/repairer are met.
The position will be based in our Wiri office. Some travel to the Waikato and greater Auckland areas will be required.
