About the role
Beach Bar - Bluebiyou is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at our restaurant in the beautiful Papamoa, Bay of Plenty. This is a casual position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work in a vibrant and dynamic kitchen environment.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the Head Chef in the overall management and execution of the kitchen operation
- Supervising and coordinating the work of the kitchen team to ensure high quality and timely service
- Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes to the restaurant's high standards
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and hygiene regulations
- Providing training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
- Maintaining a well-organised and clean kitchen environment
- Contributing to the development of new menu items and recipes
What we're looking for
- At least 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role
- Strong working knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisine styles
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- A passion for using fresh, high-quality ingredients
- A creative flair and an eye for plating and presentation
- The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Certification in food safety and hygiene
