A little bit about the role…

As the Full Stack Shopify Developer at Kathmandu, you will be responsible for driving Kathmandu's digital innovation by delivering high-performing, responsive, and customer-centric front-end solutions with a strong mobile-first approach. This role blends front-end excellence with robust back-end development across Shopify and related platforms to ensure a seamless, secure, and scalable digital experience. You'll collaborate closely with UX designers, business analysts, and technical leads to continuously improve performance, SEO, and user engagement, while maintaining tight control over data, compliance, and platform reliability.

Day to day responsibilities include:

• End-to-End Shopify Development:
  Build and maintain scalable Shopify solutions across front-end and back-end, customise Shopify themes with a mobile-first approach, optimising for speed, performance, and SEO, whilst managing integrations, data flows, and backend logic to support business needs.
• Code Development & Deployment:
  Work within structured workflows including ticket estimation, code reviews, testing, and supporting deployment processes. Help manage GitHub repositories and deployment pipelines to ensure code quality, consistency, and long-term maintainability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  Work closely with UX designers, business analyst, technical lead and outsourced development partners, ensure clear communication, efficient briefing, and robust QA processes and foster a collaborative development culture across internal and external teams.
• Scalability & Future-Proofing:
  Support integrations with Loyalty, and marketing automation platforms and enable long-term growth through scalable architecture and efficient workflows, while ensuring system stability and high performance through resilient design, proactive monitoring—including Sentry for error tracking—and continuous optimisation.

This is what you'll need…

• Proven experience in full stack development, ideally within Shopify.
• Strong proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and backend technologies, including Shopify Functions.
• Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with GTM, SEO, cookie compliance, and performance monitoring tools.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams.
• Experience with integrating a diverse range of technologies with Shopify.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities…

• Lead development and iteration of customer experience improvements.
• Maintain and enhance internal tools and digital functions (e.g., Content Square, GTM, Sentry).
• Stay current with emerging technologies to ensure the platform remains modern and secure.
• Deliver fast, responsive, and SEO-optimised digital experiences.
• Maintain robust security and compliance across all digital platforms.
• Support agile development practices and a fail-fast mentality.
• Ensure platform scalability and performance through proactive development and monitoring.
• Provide light documentation to support internal knowledge sharing and system integration.
