The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Wellington is one of the two diplomatic missions of the Republic of Korea in New Zealand. Located in the Wellington CBD, the Embassy is also accredited to the Independent State of Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga, the Cook Islands and Niue.

As amazing opportunity to join the busy team at the Embassy has just arisen. The Embassy is looking to fill a Research Administrative Staff role for a non-Korean national. To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of two years of experience in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational work environment. Applicants must have a strong understanding of New Zealand and Korea's political, economic, social and cultural issues. Experience in drafting memos, policy papers, analytical research or similar is one of the key requirements of the position.

We also require a bachelor's degree or more for this position. Applicants must also have a strong command of English and high proficiency in Korean. Experience in a government organization would be preferred.

Your general responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  1. Researching and providing analytical reports or presentation on muti-faceted domestic and global issues of interest to the Mission.
  2. Preparing Diplomatic Notes and Letters and maintaining those documents.
  3. Drafting and editing speeches. Talking points, social media posts, and related materials for the Office's diplomatic engagement.
  4. Assisting Korean War Veterans Affairs of the Mission and staff relevant meetings and events with the Veteran Affairs Official.
  5. Responding to the inquiries and/or directions from Headquarters on numerous agenda including NZ governmental systems, policy, laws and regulations etc.
  6. Facilitating and monitoring the Official development assistance projects in the Pacific Islands

This is a challenging role with various types of work every day. The ability to adapt to challenges is important.

The starting salary will be discussed during the interview. A bonus and performance-based benefits may be paid at the end of December, subject to the availability of the Embassy's budget.

Applicants of non-Korean nationality must have the legal right to work and live in New Zealand and also have a full New Zealand drivers license. A visa check and Ministry of Justice criminal record check will be performed prior to employment commencement.
