Explore Hāpainga Ora is the national provider for behaviour support in Aotearoa New Zealand, and a growing provider of community based mental health services. We work alongside disabled people, tangata whaikaha Māori, and people experiencing mental distress together with their whānau and support networks to build the skills and environments that enable people to live well in their communities.

About the role |He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

This is a rare opportunity to influence national service delivery, lead sector-wide innovation, and make a lasting impact on the lives of disabled people and those experiencing mental distress. You'll be part of a collaborative leadership team committed to excellence, partnership, and culturally responsive care.

  • Lead and mentor Specialist Services Managers across disability and mental health.

  • Strengthen national leadership capability and a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Oversee national service operations, ensuring person- and whānau-centered support.

  • Drive service development, innovation, and system integration.

  • Represent Explore nationally, building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure financial sustainability and continuous quality improvement.

What you will bring | Ngā tohungatanga mō tēnei tūranga

  • Proven leadership of large, complex national or multi-regional teams.

  • Extensive experience in disability and/or mental health service delivery.

  • Strong financial acumen and contract management expertise.

  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and system-level change.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • Postgraduate qualification in health, management, or related field.

  • Leadership experience in public sector or government agency.
