Product Manager – Conversion
About the opportunity
We're hiring for a key new role at First Table, one that could suit a Conversion Optimisation Manager or a Product Manager (Conversion) depending on your background and approach. Whether you come from a CRO or product lens, what matters most is your ability to lead experimentation and deliver commercial impact across our web and app platforms.
You'll take the reins of an established CRO program with strong ROI, then scale it further. With dedicated resources, this is a chance to build something meaningful: a world-class optimisation capability inside a fast-growing consumer brand.
This is a rare opportunity to work with the volume, data, and culture to support high-quality testing at speed. You'll see your ideas turn into real product improvements and real dollars added to the business each year, while making a visible difference to diners and restaurants across NZ, AU, and the UK.
About us
At First Table, our vision is simple: to be the first place diners go to book a table.
Proudly established in Queenstown, New Zealand - where our head office is based - we've been leading the charge in the hospitality tech industry for over a decade, with operations spanning New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. The UK is now our fastest-scaling market, having recently launched in Scotland, Leeds, Oxford, Newcastle and Nottingham, we are doubling down on building a strong presence and connected team across the UK.
First Table is a dining discovery platform that connects diners to restaurants through their love of food. Through our clever tech, we help restaurants get their night off to a great start and give diners a compelling reason to try somewhere new. It's a win-win situation. From early bird offers to last table reservations, we make discovering and booking great dining experiences fast, easy, and rewarding.
At the heart of everything we do are our values: Grow Together, Win-Win-Win, and Own It. These guide how we show up for each other, our restaurant partners, and our diners and they're a big part of what makes First Table a great place to work.

About the role
In this newly created role, you'll take full ownership of First Table's experimentation and conversion optimisation program. You won't be working alone — you'll have dedicated support from design, development, and data to help deliver impactful tests at scale.
Your job is to set the strategy, manage the pipeline, and make sure results translate into impact. You'll be the connector across disciplines, driving research, prioritisation, and delivery of experiments that improve both conversion and user experience.
This role is not about "moving buttons" for the sake of testing. It's about using experimentation to improve funnels, unlock growth, and shape a product experience that feels world-class.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the CRO program: build, prioritise, and manage a continuous pipeline of high-impact experiments across web and app.
- Work with a cross-functional team: collaborate with design, engineering, and data specialists who will support you in delivering experiments.
- Research & discovery: generate test ideas through user research, funnel analysis, and input from across the business.
- Delivery & execution: ensure experiments are scoped, designed, and shipped quickly, with the right balance of speed and quality.
- Measurement & reporting: partner with the data team to design tests with rigour, analyse results, and communicate wins, losses, and learnings.
- Tooling & process: own experimentation tooling (currently + Amplitude), assess future needs, and unify app/web testing.
- Drive real impact: deliver improvements that can add millions of dollars annually in incremental revenue while enhancing the diner experience.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in conversion rate optimisation, growth, or product management with a strong experimentation focus.
- Commercial acumen: ability to prioritise tests by impact and link results directly to revenue outcomes.
- Strong understanding of experimentation principles (A/B and multivariate testing, hypothesis design, statistical validity).
- Competence with analytics tools (Amplitude, GA4, SQL a plus) and familiarity with testing platforms , Optimizely, VWO, etc).
- Ability to juggle a high-volume testing pipeline and coordinate cross-functional delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, able to turn data into clear stories and champion learnings across the business.
- Bonus: design literacy (wireframes, UX principles), basic technical know-how (HTML/CSS/JavaScript), or prior experience optimising in native apps.
Why you'll love working with us
- Direct measurable impact: your work will show up in revenue numbers, not just vanity metrics.
- Speed to learning: run experiments quickly and see results in days, not months.
- Creative freedom: shape a new capability from scratch and establish best-practice experimentation at scale.
- Work your way: this role can be based from our Queenstown HQ (with 1 WFH day per week), or remotely from Auckland, where our team meets and collaborates regularly each month.
- Beloved consumer brand: contribute to a product that diners and restaurants already love.
- Perks: free First Table bookings, regular team recognition and socials, and the chance to work with a purpose-led, award-winning brand.
What's next?
Submit your application, with your CV and a brief cover letter telling us:
- Why this role excites you
- Roughly how many product or CRO experiments you've designed or led in the past 12 months?
- Which part of your experience feels most relevant to this role and why.
We'll be reviewing and progressing applications as they come in, so don't wait to apply.
