Based at our Thames Whānau Health Centre (Mary St, Thames), this full time (1.0 FTE) role is a great opportunity for someone thinking about a career as a health professional. Previous experience in a clinical environment is an advantage - as is a great attitude and willingness to learn. Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Office software is a prerequisite.
The Kaiāwhina Hauora (Primary Care Assistant) is part of the primary care team and supports the delivery of quality healthcare to whānau. The role involves hands-on clinical support during consultations and procedures with whānau as well as sterilising equipment, cleaning, maintaining stock and supply levels, recalling whānau for medical procedures and a variety of other clinical duties.
The role also includes administrative duties such as updating clinical records, claiming, compliance activities, responding to information requests and queries, and reception/phone cover as required. So being organised and able to manage competing demands is essential. You may also be required to provide cover at our Paeroa Whānau Health Centre, from time to time, so flexibility in this respect is also required.
Our Kaiāwhina team lead wanted to share her experience working as part of the Te Korowai whānau. Check out the video below if you need more convincing
