Mo te turanga | About the role
An exciting opportunity has'become available for a Ranger Biodiversity to join the'Kaikoura DOC team on a three-year, fixed-term basis.
In this role, you will be primarily leading weed control in the Waiau toa Clarence River catchment. The Waiau toa Clarence River spans over 200km of rugged backcountry starting from near Lake Tennyson and running through high-country stations such as Molesworth and Muzzle. The catchment retains high biodiversity values as well as being a popular spot for recreational activities. DOC, regional councils, other government agencies, iwi, community groups and private landowners all contribute to weed control in the Clarence River catchment. A recently updated weed control strategy gives direction to allow stakeholders to collaborate and weed control to be delivered in an effective way.
An additional focus of the role will be leading the delivery of weed control around the Kaikoura Peninsula, and iconic visitor site located near the township of Kaikoura. There will also be opportunities to be involved in other aspects of the biodiversity work programme, notably threatened plant monitoring and management.
