About the Role
An opportunity exists to join our Te Manawa Taki region public health nursing team as a Community Health Worker.
The primary purpose of the role is to contribute to the improved health and wellbeing of children in the Health NZ, National Public Health Service (NPHS), Rotorua community through facilitation of access to health services, health promotion and advocacy. This will be done by supporting and assisting the delivery of Immunisation Programmes, Preschool and School Nursing services, B4 Schools, Ear Nursing, Vision and Hearing, New Born Screening, TB and Rheumatic fever.

We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
The successful candidate will understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and apply its principles effectively in their role. They will demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitudes to ensure confident and effective interaction with young people and their whanau and will build and maintain positive relationships at all levels. They will demonstrate an agile approach to try new approaches, learning quickly, and adapting fast. They will have a strong commitment to promoting immunisations and participate in the delivery of these.
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
- Current New Zealand Drivers Licence (including manual car)
- Authority to work in New Zealand.
- High level of health literacy
- HCA to work under the direction and delegation of a RN work in a team environment
- Working in health, education or social sectors
