Mo te turanga mahi | About the role
A fixed-term opportunity for an OIA Advisor has arisen within our Ministerial Services team through to the end of June 2026.
We're a tight-knit team delivering high-quality ministerial services for high-profile portfolios such as Climate, Waste, Resource Management Reform and more
You will gain in-depth exposure to a wide range of policy and operational subject matters, work with stakeholders across the business group and the wider Ministry, with Ministers' offices and other agencies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and drafting responses to requests for Official Information for both the Ministry and our ministers,
- Providing advice to the business on proactively releasing Cabinet papers and ministerial decision-making documents.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience as an OIA Practitioner, drafting responses to requests for Official Information.
- Demonstrable understanding of the Official Information Act its principles and purpose, key withholding and refusal grounds and practical experience applying Ombudsman guidance to requests for official information.
- Good understanding of how government works (`Machinery of Government').
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Strong relationship building skills - including with senior leaders and Ministers' offices.
Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $80,712 to $97,721 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
