Alden is a privately owned specialist aged care provider offering rest home, hospital, and dementia-level care across 19 residential facilities throughout New Zealand. We are currently looking for a creative and compassionate Diversional Therapist to join our team at Alden Oakland in Tauranga.
About the Role
As a Diversional Therapist at Alden, you'll plan and lead recreational and social programmes that bring purpose, joy, and connection to residents' lives. Your work will support each person's wellbeing—promoting dignity, independence, and inclusion.
You will:
• Design and deliver engaging individual and group activities
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families
• Encourage community involvement and social connection
• Work collaboratively with the wider care team to support holistic wellbeing
• Keep accurate records of programmes and resident participation
• Help organise special events, outings, and celebrations
About You
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
• A National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) or at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience working in aged care or similar environments
• Excellent communication, planning, and time management skills
• A warm, creative, and empathetic approach
• A First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Confidence using Microsoft Office
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
