Case Manager – Financial Services

Graduate to 3 years' experience.

The Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme provides a free and independent dispute-resolution service that helps people resolve complaints about insurers and other financial service providers — fairly and efficiently.

Join a small, supportive team of dispute‑resolution specialists in this full time, permanent role.  You will be responsible for maintaining fairness and independence while assisting consumers and providers throughout the resolution process.

What you'll do

  • Manage a portfolio of your own cases from start to finish.
  • Investigate your cases, interpret insurance policies and other contracts, and apply them to the facts.
  • Work directly with consumers and providers to explore resolution options, and when resolution isn't possible, use your analytical reasoning to make and record clear, well-reasoned decisions.

You'll bring

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; you can translate complex issues into plain language and communicate with empathy.
  • Strong analytical thinking and objective judgment, valuing diverse perspectives as you navigate complex issues.
  • Great self‑management: you can prioritise, manage a caseload, and meet targets.
  • A law degree: students who have just finished their degree are welcome to apply, it is not necessary to have graduated yet or to have completed profs. If you are interested in completing profs after taking on the role, this can be arranged by negotiation.

Salary

  • Salary starts at: NZD $60,000 + (depending on experience).
