About the Role: Hatchery Technician – Nelson
We're looking for a hands-on, motivated and hard-working individual to join our oyster hatchery team in Nelson. Ideally you will have oyster hatchery experience, however we are open to considering talented individuals who are degree qualified in a related field, can demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a career in aquaculture and possess a lot of practical know how and initiative.
This is a unique opportunity to build a long-term career in aquaculture, working alongside passionate professionals in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Bring:
- A genuine interest in shellfish and/or micro-algae production within a hatchery setting
- Practical experience in aquaculture or marine biology (ideal but not essential)
- A strong work ethic and process-driven mindset
- Practical know how, fix it expert, operationally savvy
- Attention to detail and commitment to high standards
- Interest or experience in aquatic biosecurity practices
- A collaborative spirit and down-to-earth attitude — no task too big or small
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Effective communication skills, common sense, and personal integrity
