Auckland Council's Community Wellbeing specialist advisors work with diverse communities to understand their aspirations and support them in bringing their ideas to life. We focus on community-led development and building community capability, aligned with the Auckland Plan and Thriving Communities action plan. Our Specialist Advisors build strong relationships within the communities they are working with, can act as trusted partners and be accountable to deliver great results
We have two fixed term/secondment opportunities until March 2027 in the deep South portfolio, based in Manukau with requirements to travel and anchor around the communities you will be working with. This dynamic role offers diverse and exciting opportunities to make a difference to Auckland communities.
Day to day your responsibilities will look like:
- Contributing to and leading work that tackles some of the toughest issues facing Auckland communities.
- Giving evidence-based advice to inform elected member priorities and decision-makers.
- Working within an environment that encourages innovation and impact.

Joining the Community Programme Delivery team (South) would enable you to utilise your considerable experience in community development to create and deliver innovative projects with our diverse Auckland Communities.
We are looking for skills and experience in:
- Community development & social enterprise
- Relationship building and management
- Working with Māori and Pasifika
- Engagement of diverse communities
You must have an outstanding track record of:
- Project managing and delivering collaborative, results-focused work programmes.
- Being comfortable with complexity and ambiguity.
- Providing strategic advice and influencing at all levels.
- Working with a diverse range of community and organisational stakeholders.
You have a full NZ driver's licence or can travel independently. You can also self-manage a working week to include attending occasional community events outside of traditional working hours.

This role is a band H, we are expecting to appoint the successful applicant at a salary of between $110- $115k per annum, depending upon experience.
