Position Summary

As a Quality Control Officer, you will be part of our Quality Assurance team of four, reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager. This is a permanent full-time role (Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm), responsible for supporting an effective Quality Assurance programme based on PRPs and HACCP principles to ensure the safety and quality of all finished products.

This position requires flexibility for on-call duties and may involve shift work from time to time to support our 24/7 operations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Quality Assurance Operations

  1. Perform in-process inspections of production processes, procedures, facilities, personnel, and product/materials.

  2. Conduct sampling of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products, and coordinate submission for laboratory testing.

  3. Manage environmental pathogen control programmes effectively.

  4. Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP and relevant regulatory requirements across the plant.

  5. Review and prepare production documents and product labels.

  6. Take, store, and manage retention samples, as well as samples used for validation and shelf-life studies.

  7. Conduct incoming materials checks and prepare documentation for load-in and load-out.

  8. Manage PRPs such as pest control and intrusive maintenance activities.

Incident, Non-Conformance & Risk Management

  1. Support effective incident management, including investigations and risk assessments of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products, in consultation with the QA Manager.

  2. Raise internal non-conformance reports and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.

  3. Assist in customer complaint investigations and follow-up actions.

QA Systems, Documentation & Training

  1. Assist the QA Manager in implementing and auditing GMP, HACCP and other quality assurance programmes.

  2. Ensure new products and new processes meet established quality standards.

  3. Monitor adherence to required quality checks and report or investigate any issues.

  4. Support QA and production teams with quality-related projects.

  5. Develop, review and maintain SOPs and the document control system.

  6. Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.

  7. Provide QA and GMP training to other employees.

  8. Perform other duties assigned by management as required.

About You

You hold a BSc or tertiary qualification in Food Science or a related field, and you are passionate about Quality. You work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and value accuracy, structure, and continuous improvement.

To be successful, you will bring:

Solid hands-on experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role within the food manufacturing industry.

Strong knowledge of GMP/GHP, HACCP, food safety handling, and ideally pathogen management.

Good competency in MS Excel and willingness to learn new digital tools.

Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a proactive mindset.
