Position Title: Diesel Mechanic

Salary Range: $30.00–$35.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Minimum Guaranteed Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week

Sanger Smart is a progressive agricultural services business utilising advanced machinery and technology to deliver efficient and sustainable farming solutions. We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to maintain, repair, and service our fleet of agricultural vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• A minimum of three years' relevant experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy vehicle mechanic, or similar role; or
• A relevant Level 4 qualification or higher (e.g., NZQF Certificate/Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Heavy Diesel Maintenance, or related field).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in repairing and servicing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
• Current driver's licence (Class 2 or above preferred).

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults in diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, including tractors, harvesters, and other agricultural equipment.
• Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and performance checks.
• Test and adjust mechanical systems to manufacturer specifications.
• Repair and replace defective parts, including engines, gearboxes, and hydraulic components.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and service schedules.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and industry standards.
• Provide technical advice to operators and assist in training staff on machinery care.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
