Position: Heavy Truck Driver (Class 5)

Location: Bay of Plenty Region and Linehaul if required.

Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent

Wages: $27 per hour

Minimum Hour per week: 30

Key Responsibilities:

Driving and Transportation:

  • Transport goods from origin to destination safely and on time.
  • Plan and follow the best routes to meet delivery schedules.
  • Handle the truck carefully while loading and unloading to prevent damage.
  • Ensure proper stacking and securing of goods to prevent shifting during transit.

Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:

  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections for mechanical issues and safety concerns.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as refueling and oil checks/replacements.
  • Report any defects, accidents, or violations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure the truck is clean, organized, and free from unnecessary clutter.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Follow all truck driving regulations (size, weight, routes, parking, etc.).
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Log work/rest periods and driving distance, retaining fuel and toll receipts.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and update records as needed.

Handling & Verification of Goods:

  • Collect and verify delivery instructions before departure.
  • Check the condition of goods before collection and after delivery.
  • Ensure proper handling of fragile or perishable items.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading and unloading when required.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid NZ Class 5 driver's license (or must be qualified to obtain prior to commence of the job).
  • A minimum of 1-year proven experience as a Heavy Truck Driver that requires Class 5 License or equivalent.
  • The candidate must be willing to undergo and pass drug testing, employment verification, and a criminal history check if requested. Must have a clean driving record and criminal history.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices, routing software, and logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle unexpected situations.
  • Physical stamina for loading/unloading and long-distance driving.
  • Be available to work on weekends, nights and public holidays as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
