Te Tūranga i The Role
We have a brand-new permanent opportunity for a
Solutions Architect
to join the Technology. In this strategic leadership role, the Solutions Architect will help shape the future of Sky's media streaming architecture by leading the modernisation and unification of platforms—improving customer experience, boosting operational efficiency, and delivering real business value.

Bringing deep expertise in frontend architecture and scalable application design, the Solutions Architect will focus on simplifying and streamlining complex systems while aligning with Sky's long-term technology vision. The role involves creating clear, future-ready solutions and working closely with teams and partners to drive innovation and speed up delivery across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Defining and evolving Sky's architecture vision for media streaming platforms.
• Managing target designs, architectural standards, and long-term technical roadmaps.
• Partnering with vendors supporting Sky Box, Sky Pod, Sky Go, Sky Sport Now, and Neon.
• Guiding architectural decisions to ensure solutions align with Sky's platform vision.
• Apply frontend and scalable system design principles to steer API design and telemetry integration.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, and delivery teams.
• Defining and enforce solution architecture standards across streaming domains.
• Ensuring all architectural designs meet security, scalability, and performance requirements.

NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO I WHAT YOU WILL BRING
With proven experience in large-scale solution architecture, strong expertise in frontend, platform telemetry, and scalable system design, you'll drive the creation of reliable, efficient, and future-ready solutions that power innovation and growth.

You're approachable, a clear communicator, and a thoughtful operator who listens well and leads with integrity. You build strong relationships through collaboration and trusted stakeholder engagement—even within complex vendor environments.

Alongside This, You Will Bring

• A strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, cloud-native architecture.
• Experience with broadcast media or content publishing systems would be a strong advantage e.g. media asset management, media metadata, content rights, content curation, publish orchestration, imagery etc.
• Computer Science or similar degree or have an equivalent body of knowledge
• Knowledge of emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven recommendations, low-latency streaming).
• Experience with platforms such as Android TV, Apple TV, or other OTT delivery models.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
