Got a taste for excellence and looking for a sweet new role? Cookie Time Limited (CTL) is on the hunt for a hands-on, proactive Technical Quality Lead to join our Technical Team in Christchurch.

Cookie Time Limited (CTL) is a highly successful, entrepreneurial and innovation-led food company. For over 42 years, we've been crafting some of New Zealand's most loved food brands - Cookie Time, Bumper, OSM, Em's Power Cookies and Higgins range of cookies.

Our business spans franchised distribution, retail, licensing, and manufacturing. Quality and Food Safety are central to everything we do - and we're looking for someone who shares the passion.

Reporting to the Food Safety & Process Excellence Lead, this role is responsible for leading quality assurance and control activities, supporting new product innovation, and driving process excellence across our operations.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to:

  • Lead QA/QC programs including hygiene swabbing, GMP audits, and traceability exercises.
  • Investigate anomalies and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Support NPD trials, product launches, and first production runs.
  • Oversee product documentation and change control.
  • Champion food safety culture through monthly "Food Safety Bites" and team engagement
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure quality coverage across all shifts and support team training and development.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Hands-on and solutions-focused, process oriented, comfortable working on the floor and solving problems in real time.
  • A strong team player who builds trust and communicates effectively across departments.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Passionate about food safety and quality, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 6 years experience in Food Quality Management.
  • Formal qualifications in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP and GFSI standards (FSSC 22000 preferred).
  • Experience in process improvement and quality systems.
  • Bakery experience is a plus.
  • Recent experience in a role with autonomy and decision-making authority.
