**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at Waikato Hospital is seeking to recruit a full time Medical Laboratory Scientist or Cytologist to join its team as a Technical Specialist. You will be primarily responsible for supporting the Cytology service, working closely with clinicians, pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure a high standard of work in all aspects of non-gynaecological cytology. Duties include preparation and processing of specimens, attendance at onsite FNAs and ROSE procedures, equipment maintenance, laboratory administration and team leadership. You will also be expected to participate in the Cytology RCPA Quality Assurance Programme. This is a fixed term role covering a period of parental leave for 12 months.

Our team, located within Waikato Hospital are supported by modern, well equipped histology and cytology laboratories with an enthusiastic and skilled scientific workforce. We have access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and techniques. The Waikato Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory processes over 18,000 surgical cases per year and over 2200 cytology cases per year.
