**About the Role**

We are looking for a skilled and hands on Fitter Leading Hand to join our Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG) in the Te Manawa Taki region. In this role you'll be responsible for the day to day supervision, allocation, and completion of mechanical maintenance work across hospital facilities. You'll ensure high standards of work, mentor team members, and support the delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant services.

This role includes a strong operational focus, working directly on preventative and reactive maintenance of mechanical infrastructure. You'll also play a vital part in contractor coordination, compliance reporting, and after hours on call support.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

The IIG team are focused on delivering high-impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system. Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, they understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

Serving over 1 million people, a fifth of New Zealand's population, and stretching across the middle of the North Island from the east to the west coasts, Te Manawa Taki means ‘the heartbeat'. The name reflects the geographical position of the region which includes five districts - Taranaki, Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty and Tairāwhiti. Across the five districts, IIG manages infrastructure spanning 14 sites and more than 100 buildings.

**About you**

You bring technical expertise and you take pride in delivering high quality work.You've worked in environments where reliability and precision are critical.

You understand the importance of preventative and reactive maintenance across systems such as boilers, HVAC, medical gas systems, and other mechanical plant. You're responsive to change, proactive in solving problems, and committed to maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

You're ready to lead by example, support your team, and ensure our mechanical infrastructure is maintained to the highest standard, helping deliver safe, reliable healthcare services to your community.

**You will bring**:

- NZ Advanced Trade Certificate in mechanical engineering and/or NZ Trade Certificate in Fitting, Turning and/or Welding
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a hospital or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices and compliance requirements
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem solving skills
- Contractor management experience
- Experience working in multicultural and diverse environments, with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022
