**What you will do**:
Joining a team of Senior Systems Engineers your experience and contribution will go a long way in helping to deliver a large pipeline of project work and assisting with BAU support.

Duties will include:

- The design, build and support of hybrid systems running on Linux, containerized technologies and Windows server.
- Working with the network on physical, virtualized Linux and public cloud infrastructure.
- Using structured infrastructure-as-code practices and documentation to ensure consistent delivery and support of systems.
- Participating in structured change management processes and peer reviews to ensure system delivery consistent with the demands of critical communications.
- Participate in the selection and evaluation of third-party solutions
- Develop a high level of knowledge of the environment to investigate and champion the consolidation of legacy systems to best practice.

**Skills and experience we are looking for**:
To be considered for this role you will need wide ranging, hands-on experience within infrastructure environments, including networking, operations, security, and operating systems delivered on a hybrid mix of on-premise, remote data center and public cloud infrastructure. We seek someone with senior level experience who can liaise effectively with senior stakeholders within an organization and who has a strong mix of the following technical skills:

- Experience working in a cross functional environment across Legacy Unix, Linux, and Windows systems in a hybrid on-prem, managed Data Centre and Public Cloud environment (AWS and Azure)
- Experience in networking with physical as well as virtual systems. (Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, Juniper) as well as knowledge of switching, routing technologies and advanced virtualization / cloud computing
- Experience with Layer 2 / 3 VPN solutions. IPSEC / OpenVPN / Wireguard etc.
- Understanding of security practice and technologies
- Experience with virtualization platforms (KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V)
- Strong presentation and modelling skills, experience articulating solution design and specifications using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Be prepared to take part in an on-call roster to support critical infrastructure

This is a Christchurch based role. Please note that while there is some work from home flexibility, there is also an expectation for onsite work and team collaboration every week.
