**Duty Lawyer Supervisor - Wellington - Porirua and Hutt Valley**

**Te Haeata/The Opportunity**

Exciting opportunity for an experienced criminal lawyer with recent Duty Lawyer experience and exceptional people leader skills.

As a Duty Lawyer supervisor, Wellington region, you will report to the Wellington Public Defender. Based at both the Porirua and Hutt Valley courts, you will be responsible for:

- Leading the duty lawyer service at court on your rostered days.
- Contributing to new initiatives and improvements to the service.
- Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you must be passionate about criminal justice issues and:

- be qualified to practise law in New Zealand
- have Provider Approval Level 1 or above, as well as Duty Lawyer Approval.
- have proven credibility with Judges, peers and others in the legal community.
- be comfortable as part of a team who support and rely on one-another.
- enjoy sharing legal expertise and exchanging ideas.
- have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,614 and $179,876, depending on skills and experience.
