Our Digital Unit is a team of dedicated professionals who strive to deliver world-class solutions to technology problems. These solutions have a positive impact on the lives of everyone in Christchurch. The Unit is responsible for developing and delivering a coordinated Digital strategy across multiple business units, including solution development and support. This role sits in the newly established Dev/QA team, which aims to deliver an outstanding service-eco system. We are searching for a highly competent, driven, and personable Principal Software Engineer to join the team.

This will suit someone that has a 'can do' attitude and does not mind getting their hands dirty. You will have a strong component of technical leadership with abilities to influence a Dev/QA team who will have hands-on responsibility for designing and developing APIs for a combination of in-house and vendor integrations.

**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**

This role is the IT Software Engineer authority recognised to develop innovative approaches to solution design and any issues that arise. As part of this role, you will be responsible for providing dedicated quality management and assurance support to ensure compliance to design, build, test, implement fault fixes and minor enhancements in accordance with ITIL process using appropriate development methodology.

**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
- At least 10 years experience in an IT role with experience in Software Development Lifecycle and good practice
- Experience in leading a Software Engineering practice and Software Development Life Cycle process improvement within the IT role
- An innovative and experimental mindset with a strong interest in working with different technologies and approaches
- Understanding of modern architecture
- Working with architects to provide an implementation design
- A strong desire to work collaboratively with others and the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge and Experience working with Windows Servers/ Windows Azure
- Hands-on experience with some of the following: Azure Integration Services,.NET, IIS, Framework, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, Version Control, C#, Powershell and SQL
