**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

As a Database Administrator, you will provide technical expertise database services across designated Te Whatu Ora - HealthNZ and Ministry of Health database systems

Joining our Data and Digital team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance as well as expert database services across designated database systems.

Our team provides Database operational and development services across multiple platforms. Using individual skills our Database Administrators provide database services to various product and project teams alongside others in the wider Data and Digital Directorate.

Our team also provide support for existing systems ensuring they are at peak availability and performance. We pride ourselves on being customer centric and providing an exceptional service. As part of the overall services, we expect our Database Administrator's to advise on the development of team and group work plans in conjunction with all members of Technology Services.

We are a close-knit diverse team who genuinely care and support one another both professionally and personally. Our team culture shines through whether working within project/product teams or on our own work program.

**Mōu | About you**

You'll be someone with hands-on experience with multiple operating systems and other technologies across a wide range of platforms from Unix to Windows, You should be keen to learn and be able to absorb information while working under pressure. You must be comfortable working both in the office and remotely as well as rostered on call. Being located within the Wellington Region is an advantage but not a necessity for the right person.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**:

- RDBMS operational best practice knowledge including database design, query design, performance optimisation, database tuning, business continuity, disaster recovery, security and capacity management and planning
- Good knowledge of privacy and security in relationship to database and IT services
- Broad understanding of IT Technologies and systems and how they relate to RDBMS technologies
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
- 2+ years experience in database technologies, DB2would be an advantage.

**This role requires and/or would benefit from the following**
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
