We are seeking a highly motivated officer to join the Offshore Disruption Intelligence team within the Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement (II&E) Group. You will have either knowledge of Customs / the border environment or are an experienced Intelligence Analyst. This position is based in Auckland Customhouse and reports to the Supervising Customs Officer of the Offshore Disruption and Proactive Intelligence team. You will generally work within regular hours - Monday to Friday.
The Offshore Disruption team has the objective of detecting, disrupting, and dismantling transnational organized criminal networks to disrupt the supply chain of illicit goods offshore. The team does this through intelligence-led risk management and engaging with partners (both domestic and international). The role of a Senior Intelligence Analyst within the Offshore Disruption team is vital in achieving this.

- You are an experienced Intelligence analyst.
- You have a natural curiosity and talent for identifying patterns and anomalies.
- Have experience in coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Experience working with large data sets and using analytical tools like Nexus, I2 Notebook etc.
- Preferably, you are experienced working in a fast paced environment with sensitive information.
- You understand information security principles (classifications, caveats, handling and sharing of information)
- You are an experienced report writer who produces high-quality intelligence reporting
- Are proficient in all forms of written and spoken communication.
- Have an ability to problem solve and make sound decisions in a fast -paced environment, whilst having flexibility, adaptability and resilience to changing operational needs.
- Have an exceptional ability to work independently, multi-task and ensure issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Have the ability to present confidently to a range of audiences including senior management
- Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a professional manner.

**Salaries and Benefits**:
The salary range for this role is $78,371 - $98,413 with mid-point or competent for the range $89,800.

To join Customs in any role you must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand permanent resident* and for this role, be able to obtain and maintain an Organisational Security clearance along with being able to obtain and maintain security clearance to 'Top Secret' level.
OR
You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Already having Top Secret clearance is a benefit, but not a requirement.
Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a medical assessment and drug test and must hold a full NZ Drivers' licence.
If shortlisted, you will be asked to complete online psychometric testing as part of the process.
