**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kairuruku - Research Assistant in Immunology/Neuroscience on a 12-month fixed-term, full-time contract working as part of a Neurological Foundation research contract with Professor Anne La Flamme.

Key responsibilities:

- Contributing to project development.
- Performing and gathering experimental data.
- Analysing and interpreting experimental data.
- Coordinating individuals involved in the associated research.
- Preparing research contract reports and manuscripts for publication.
- Providing some assistant in the mentoring and supervision of graduate students.

You will:

Key requirements:

- A Master’s degree with experience in immunology and/or neuroscience. In particular, autoimmunity and animal models of autoimmune diseases (especially multiple sclerosis).
- A sound background in general laboratory practice and methods, and competence with standard data entry, manipulation, and analysis tools.
- Practical knowledge of immunological methods and techniques relating to immune function and immune response development is desirable.
- Competencies required (training will be provided): Tissues and culture techniques, animal care and handling/use of experimental animal models, immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry.
