Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us An exciting opportunity to join BNZ as a Senior Automation Tester in Wellington Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We sat down with our Engineering Lead (who you’d report to) and he let us know the following about the tūranga (role): What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?- Conduct both manual and automated tests on new features and existing bug fixes to identify any issues or deviations from expected behavior.- Create and update automated test scripts to enhance and maintain the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, ensuring consistency and efficiency in testing.- Work closely with developers, PO and business analysts within an agile framework, participating in ceremonies like stand-ups and retrospectives to ensure a shared understanding of quality.- Actively investigate reported bugs by reproducing them and gathering detailed information to help developers find solutions quickly.- As a team member, contribute to defining testing plan for new projects, mentor junior testers, and serve as a go-to person for quality-related questions within the team What is the team culture and environment like? What technical skills / skills are REQUIRED for this role?- Cloud & Containerization - Kubernetes (K8s) and Amazon EKS for microservice deployments- Messaging Systems - hands-on with Apache Kafka and Message Queues (MQ)- API Testing & Automation - Postman, REST Assured framework, service contracts testing- Automation Frameworks - ability to design, maintain, and scale automated regression suites- Performance Testing - JMeter (load, stress, scalability, and reliability testing)- Microservices Architecture - testing strategies for distributed systems, inter-service communication, and resilience- DevOps & CI/CD Tools - Jenkins pipelines, Bitbucket/Git version control, and build automation- Agile Tools - Jira for defect tracking, test management, and sprint planning- Strong hands-on experience with ETL testing, including ETL pipeline, ETL test automation, data transformation, integration testing, and SQL scripting.- Experience with Snowflake and Airflow What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?- Deep Technical Expertise: Strong background in testing and delivering complex software systems across varied contexts.- Leadership and Influence: Ability to guide technical decisions, mentor others, and support a high-performing engineering culture.- Systems Thinking: Awareness of how individual components contribute to broader business goals and system architecture.- Proactive Collaboration: Skilled at building strong relationships across disciplines and working toward shared outcomes.- Continuous Improvement Focus: Commitment to raising the bar in quality, efficiency, and team capability.
