Are you looking to build a rewarding career while making a real impact on New Zealand’s rail network?**KiwiRail is seeking several enthusiastic individuals to join our Traction team as Trainee Traction Line Mechanics. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a hard-working person who has a genuine interest in developing a career in rail. You will need to be willing to complete On the Job Training, study towards an NZQA qualification and attend training courses provided by KiwiRail. You will be fully trained as part of our new Traction Apprenticeship Programme and complete the NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Traction Line) Level 4.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain, install, repair, and restore overhead traction systems.
- Learn to use traction test equipment and safely operate tools.
- Work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Contribute to team meetings and maintain detailed documentation of work activities.
- Prioritize health and safety in all tasks, ensuring compliance with KiwiRail’s Zero Harm policies.

**What You’ll Need**:

- NCEA Level 1 or equivalent, a Class 1 driver’s licence
- Strong willingness to learn, with basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems.
- Ability to work outdoors, in a team, and commit to safety standards.
- **Must be able to obtain EWRB registration or already be EWRB registered to be considered for this role.**
