You will be expected to work autonomously, manage a caseload effectively and within a timely manner, have a proactive approach to your work, be a nimble learner and keep up-to-date with changes in the legislation, and adhere to deadlines. You will also contribute to a high-performing team and actively take part in team quality and review processes.

The Labour Standards Officer is a team member position in MBIE’s Labour Inspectorate. The Labour Inspectorate is accountable for the enforcement of minimum employment standards through:

- Detecting and addressing non-compliance with minimum employment standards legislation;
- Providing information and education to support compliance and raise awareness of employment standards;
- Preventing non-compliance by assisting employers to implement systems and practices that comply with employment law;
- Providing services that encourage and support employers and employees to resolve employment standards disputes.
