Greenhouse Assistant

**Responsibilities**:

- Cucumber harvesting on harvest days
- Plant maintenance (leaf removal, fruit thinning, winding, DE lateraling)
- Assisting with crop clearance, a physically demanding work that requires good fitness.
- Packshed offering grading and quality control assistance.
- As needed, support with propagation.
- Please be aware that there is some task overlap between the two roles.

**Work Conditions**:
Greenhouses are warm and humid - because cucumber plants like it that way You need to be able to work in all conditions including heat (up to approx. 30degC) and high humidity (80%). There is the opportunity to progress and to study via Primary ITO in conjunction with the work here.

**Work days/hours**:

- Winter hours: Mon-Fri 8am - 4.30pm approx.
- Summer hours: Mon-Fri 7.30am - 5pm, Saturday 7.30am to approx. midday or when the work is completed.
- The ability to work Saturdays over summer period is essential.
- The ability to work public holidays is essential as cucumbers dont stop growing
- Were looking for a person with the following attributes:

- A can-do attitude
- Needs to be physically fit (lifting crates and pullout work)
- Have excellent communication skills
- Available to work required hours
- Applicants with horticultural experience preferred, but not always essential, training will begiven.

The starting pay rate is based on no/limited experience. Previous industry experience will result in a higher starting salary. We also have a bonus system in place that allows you to earn a higher hourly rate (conditions apply).

**Hours per week: 30-35 hours per week**
